Winford Phillips, 92, passed away on December 26, 2023. He was born in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late Walter Phillips and Linnie Mae Hardegree Phillips on July 26, 1931.

Winford served in the U.S. Air Force for 2 years in the early 1950's. His profession was that of an aircraft mechanic. He and his beloved wife Floreta served for many years as ministers of music at several churches in both Douglas and Carroll counties. He loved to sing, play guitar, write music and paint. There was nothing he couldn't build or repair.

Winford is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Floreta Barrow Phillips. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, daughter and son-in-law, Terri Phillips Bridges (Tim), son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Phillips (Susan); granddaughters, Courtney Chastain (Matt), Chelsea Starnes (C.J.), Blakely Aiken (Justin), Savannah Allred (Ethan); and 8 great-grandchildren, Tyson, Anna, Paisley, River, Finley, Jonah, Elliot, and Ellison.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2 PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.

A private family interment will be in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Matt Chastain, C.J. Starnes, Justin Aiken, Tyson Chastain, Ethan Allred and Gene Willis serving as pallbearers.
