Mrs. Willa Dean Duke Johnson, age 84 of Carrollton, Georgia, entered into rest Friday, August 13, 2010 after an extended illness. She was born January 23, 1926, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the daughter of the late F. Lee West and Annie Durham West. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, G. Huell Duke and Samuel Johnson, two sisters, Elizabeth Williamson and Lucille West. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker most of her life and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. After raising her son, she enjoyed traveling. She LOVED homemade ice cream. She is survived by her son, Walter Dean Duke(Debbie), step-daughter, Beverly Wiggins(Kenny); grandchildren, Wade Duke(Tanya), Amy Bowdoin(Bill), Kristen Vance (Casey), Ken Wiggins(Angela), and Katie Gambrell(Brad), eight great grandchildren and sisters-in-law, Ann Hendrix(Horace), Jimmie Nell Duke, Hilda Johnson, Tura Freeman and Frances Craft. She, also, leaves behind her dear friend, Wilma Kenney who was such a wonderful caregiver. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home on Saturday, August 14, with Dr. Jimmy Gentry officiating. Music will be by Mr. Frank Shoppe and Mrs. Charlene Wiggins. Visitation will be at Almon Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at 3 p.m. Pallbearers will be Wade Duke, Ken Wiggins, Byron Madden, Hugh Bass, Eddie Harman and Jim Shadinger. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make a contribution to Tabernacle Baptist Church General Fund in her memory.
