Obituary

Mr. Wilbur Hoberg of Fletcher Drive, Winston, GA, died at the age of 90 on Friday afternoon, March 27, 2009. Mr. Hoberg was born on July 19, 1918, in Jersey City, NJ, the son of the late William Hoberg and Ida Arm Hoberg. He retired from a teaching post at Bergen Tech Vocational School after having worked for about 12 years at New York University. Prior to that, he served in the military for 20 years achieving the rank of captain in the United States Army. He was stationed, in the Pacific during WWII as an American advisor to a Philippine Battalion during the recapture of the Philippines and fought earlier in the New Guinea campaign. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Coelho Hoberg, son and daughter-in-law, James and Carol Hoberg of Douglasville, and grandchildren Michele, Michael, Kathy and Peter. He was the proud great-grandfather of Ashley and Justin Peterson, Katie and Emily Hoberg, and Chris, Alex and Jacqueline McCain. He is also survived by his only sister, Dorothy Cuidera currently living in Minnesota. Sadly, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hoberg. Funeral services will be Monday, March 30, 2009 at 4 pm with military rites at the Almon Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Marc Limbaugh officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral an hour and a half before the service. Interment will be at Carroll Memorial Gardens.
