Walter R.
Jensen
Apr 23, 1938 — Apr 20, 2025
Walter R. Jensen, age 86, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, in Carrollton, Georgia. Born on April 23, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, Walter lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a zest for adventure.
Walter proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of corporal. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and pride that remained with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a 28-year career with Delta Air Lines, beginning in Detroit and concluding in Atlanta.
He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures—watching baseball games with enthusiasm, immersing himself in historical books, and spending time with those he loved. Walter had an infectious sense of humor and was often described as the life of the party. Whether gathered around a card table or behind the wheel on one of his many road trips, he brought energy and laughter wherever he went.
Walter's love for travel took him far and wide, but his heart was always anchored by his deep love for family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Maureen Sheehan Jensen; their children: Michael (Debra) Jensen, Eric (Rita) Jensen, and Heather (Gary) Jensen Kinard; grandchildren: Sean, Lauren, Lizzy, Alex, Sydney, Richard, and Rhonda; and great-grandchildren: Isaac, Logan, Leigha, Nicholas, Alexis, and Connor.
He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Robert Johnson and Suzanne Johnson Waggoner. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Johnson and Iva Greenfield Johnson; and sisters, Mary Johnson Kniatt and Carol Johnson Bridges.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire joy in every journey taken.
