Mr. Walter Otis Allen age 84 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Mr. Allen was born on August 30, 1940 in Hogansville, Georgia the son of the late Young Jackson "Jack" Allen and Lena Elizabeth Yearta Allen.

Throughout his life, Walter was known for his strong work ethic. He held various jobs, earning the reputation of a "Jack of All Trades." He worked as a machine operator at Bonnell Aluminum and as a butcher at the Handy Market before joining Southwire in the Copper Division, where he worked as a forklift mechanic until his retirement. In addition to his employment, Allen was an entrepreneur, owning and operating several businesses, including Allen's Grocery and Diamond Fence Company. Even after retirement, he remained active, running Gloria's Country Collectibles with his wife and later working for the Carroll County Convenience Center which both allowed him to enjoy his passion for collecting and antiquing.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Allen found joy in fishing and spending time with his family. His faith was central to his life; he was a member of Great Savior Baptist Church and took great pride in volunteering with the children's ministry. Allen's legacy is one of hard work, faith, and dedication to those around him.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gloria Jiles Allen; daughter, April Harris (Tim); son, Dwayne Allen; daughters, Julie Meeks (Jamie Meeks), Jennifer Allen Frazier; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and sister, Laverne Hayes. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Irene Garrett, Aline McKenzie, Dolly Sorrell, Doris Rogers and Jessie Mae Adams; brothers, Freeman Buck Allen, Lamar Pete Allen, Melvin Eugene Allen, Wayne Allen and granddaughter, Stephanie Brown.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 3 pm from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Pastor Jamie Meeks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the service hour.

Pallbearers will be Jason Brown, Tim Brown, Cody Meeks, River Youngblood, Trent Nix, Andrew Sumner, Nathan Brown, John Austin and Mitchell Chambers.

Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
