Brasher
May 20, 1941 — May 22, 2024
TW (Tom) Brasher, age 83, of Dunlap, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at home surrounded by family. Born on May 20, 1941, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of Thomas W. and Joyce N. Brasher.
After graduation from Villa Rica High School, Villa Rica, GA, TW joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Hanna City, IL. There he met Harriet Bott and later married her on July 13, 1961. He lost Harriet, the love of his life in April, 2021.
Tom was employed at Caterpillar in Mossville, IL for 30+ years as a quality control engineer. Due to his technical expertise, he was considered as a go-to person by his fellow co-workers.
Tom was a man of many pursuits. He took great pride in gardening earning the title of Master Gardener. He delighted in exercising his expertise by participating in Plant a Row for the Hungry, a national program with the goal of encouraging gardeners to help feed the hungry and homeless. He also took great joy in donating the fruits of his labor to his community.
Tom is survived by his children: Deb of Pleasantville, IA, Tom of Hanna City, IL, Tim of Dunlap, IL, his sisters Lila of Piedmont, SC & Penny of Williamston, SC. He is also survived by six (6) grandchildren: Jason, Andi, Nicole, Jesse, Meggie and Avari as well as nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Pat, his brother Nelson and his nephew Danny. His warmth, dedication, and love for his family and community will be deeply missed.
A graveside Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 2 PM at Bethany Christian Church Cemetery, 2868 Carrollton-Villa Rica Rd., Carrollton, GA.
The family warmly welcomes all to the reception in the Church community center following the service. Bring your memories of happy times with TW and bid him farewell!
