Obituary

Mr. Thomas Wade Duke, age 50 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018. Mr. Duke was born in Carrollton, Georgia on January 30, 1968, the son of Walter Dean Duke and Carol Wallis Cole. He graduated from Carrollton High School and received an associate's degree in Applied Science at Gordon College. He worked 18 years for ADT as a technician and later as a project manager. He was of the Baptist faith, baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church and later attended Grace Covenant Church. Wade was an avid hunter, killing his first deer at age seven. It was very important to him that all the meat be processed and that the deer was not killed just as a trophy. He also enjoyed truck and jeep mudding, skydiving, fishing and rock rappelling. He was an excellent cook and loved to cook for family and friends. He even went to state gourmet cooking finals in Atlanta his senior year at Carrollton High School. The family always joked he might would have won except that he needed to cook and run the same day to make it to a soccer match in Rome, Georgia. He was very skilled with his hands and could put together anything. That always made him a big help to Santa every year on Christmas Eve! Wade was known for his big heart. He would truly give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His sweet spirit will be greatly missed. Survivors include his father, Walter Dean Duke (and step-mother Debbie) of Carrollton; mother, Carol Wallis Cole of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Peyton Duke of Carrollton; sisters and their spouses Amy Duke Bowdoin and Bill; Kristen Duke Vance and Casey; and Wynn Cole Burr and William; five nephews, two nieces and step-father, Dr. Chip Cole. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, G. H. and Willa Dean Duke and James and Mary Lou Wallis. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Harthern officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the service time. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Alice's House, P.O. Box 1596, Carrollton, Georgia 30112. Messages of condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.almonfuneralhome.com. Almon Funeral Home of Carrollton has charge of arrangements.
