Teresa Elaine Muncy Leslie, age 67, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Born June 17, 1958, in Louisa, Kentucky, Teresa was the beloved daughter of the late Elbert Franklin Muncy and Ella Lavonne Cordle Muncy. A lifelong scholar and passionate educator, Teresa retired after 24 years as a history professor at the University of West Georgia, where she was deeply admired by colleagues and students alike.

Teresa's academic achievements were numerous. She held a Ph.D. from Emory University, a master's degree from the University of West Georgia, University of Kentucky and bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky, with triple undergraduate major. Her dedication to history and education was matched only by her love of learning.

A member of Community First United Methodist Church, Teresa served her community faithfully and held leadership roles, including President of the CCHS (Carroll County Humane Society). Outside of academia, she had a passion for Disney and cherished her regular visits to Walt Disney World—often traveling there five times a year, a tradition that brought her great joy and many cherished memories.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Andrew Leslie; her sons and daughters-in-law, Logan and Brooklyn Leslie, and Ethan and Allison Leslie; her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Marie Muncy; and a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM until 1:45 PM at Almon Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery with Logan Leslie, Ethan Leslie, Michael Muncy, Nathan Lawrence, Mauricio Rivera, and Steve Goodson serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Carroll County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1304, Carrollton, GA 30112, in Teresa's memory.
