Skyler James Herrell, 17, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly in a car accident on August 13, 2025.

Skyler was born on September 27, 2007, in Villa Rica to Bruce Michael Herrell and Loreen Louise Herrell. A senior at Villa Rica High School, Skyler had recently been accepted to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, where he planned to study Film Sciences.

Known affectionately as "Icarus" by his fellow classmates and closest friends. Skyler was a bright and imaginative soul with a deep love for video games, anime, skateboarding, film editing, and acting. He was endlessly creative, always exploring new ways to express himself through art and technology. Skyler was full of life, had a very kind and generous heart and was loved by all who knew him.

He had a special connection with animals and shared a close bond with his emotional support cat, Eugio, who recently brought him comfort and companionship.

Skyler is survived by his parents, Bruce and Loreen Herrell; his grandmothers, Candice McDaniel, Donna Sullivan; great-grandfather, Richard A. Sellers; godparents, brothers, Dakota Herrell, Michael Herrell, Robert Herrell, Tyler Cooper, and Ryan Cooper; sister, Candy Cooper; honorary uncle, Marcus Riggins; close family friends, Mark Miller and Martha ("Mommy Moo"); his cherished cat, Eugio; as well as many uncles, aunts, great uncles, great aunts, great great uncles, great great aunts, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who were touched by his life. Honorary brother, Damien Nichols; honorary sister, Brittney Petosky; uncles, Roger Herrell, Jeff Sullivan, William Herrell, Ben Sullivan, Brandon Sullivan; aunts, Lacy Clark, Cassie Herrell, Sharon Eaton, Tiffany Mason.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John T. McDaniel, Juel Bretzmann, Bruce R. Herrell; and sister, Haley Ferguson (Woods).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Whitesburg Recreation Center, 60 Booster Field Road, Whitesburg, GA 30185 from 4 PM - 8 PM.

A memorial service will be held at Happy Valley Baptist Church in Villa Rica, on September 27, 2025 on Skyler's 18th birthday.
