Mrs. Serena Hansard Almon, age 91 of Carrollton, Georgia died Thursday, August 9, 2012. Mrs. Almon was born in Carrollton, Georgia on May 7, 1921, the daughter of the late Dr. Walter B. Hansard and Serena Clayton Hansard. Serena was former co-owner of Nuway Cleaners, past member of Sunset Hills Ladies Golf Association and former bookkeeper at Sunset Hills Country Club. She was a member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, LaVerne and Earl Alderman of Atlanta; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Marian Almon of Carrollton, Rick and Susan Almon of Peachtree City, Randy and Pam Almon of Carrollton; grandchildren, Kelly (Kevin) Bryant, Scott (Melissa) Almon, Ashley (Jonathan) Bush, Matt Almon, Alexis Almon, Adam (Ashley) Almon, Ansley Almon; great grandchildren, Hunter, Griffin and Brooks Bryant, Conner and Mitchell Almon, Warner and Hayden Bush and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pee-Wee Almon; sisters, Sara Hansard Wheeler, Gladys Hansard Sims; brothers, Fred Hansard, W. B. Hansard and Victor Hansard. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 11 at 12 noon at the Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Dr. Dean Milford and Rev. Mike Broome officiating. Music will be provided by Heaven's Echoes. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bryant, Jonathan Bush, Adam Almon, Matt Almon, Charlie Almon, Cal Hansard, Frank Jones and Chris Bass. Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery.
