Sara Akin Burnett, age 81 of Whitesburg, Georgia died Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Mrs. Burnett was born in Carrollton, Georgia on October 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Edgar Akin and Ellen Baber Akin. She was a homemaker and member of Rotherwood Congregational Methodist Church in Whitesburg. Survivors include her ex-husband, Carl S. Burnett of Whitesburg, son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Tricia Burnett of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Kevin Burnett, Ashley Burnett, Andrew Burnett and sister, Syble Vaughn of Whitesburg. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dale S. Burnett and Tony L. Burnett. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Funeral service will be Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home.
