Obituary

Mrs. Sally S. Miles 72, of Groover Drive, Carrollton passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011. Mrs. Miles was born on December 25, 1938 in Carrollton, GA, the daughter of the late Edward Marcine Smith and Haysel Helen Groover Smith. She was a volunteer for Save-a-Life, and a former member of the West GA. Gun Club. Sally was an active tennis player, a solo pilot, and had a special love for animals, and trained and showed pleasure horses. She had a lovely voice where she enjoyed singing at special occasions. Sally was a member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church and The Believers Sunday School Class. She was an OB nurse at Tanner Medical Center for 25 years. Survivors include her husband, Rodger Miles; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Jimmy Stewart; son and daughter-in-law, Roddy and Connie Miles all of Carrollton; grandchildren; Shane Miles and fiancé Julie Williamson, Andi Stewart, Coby Miles and Jenna Miles; sister and brother-in-law, Laddie and Bill Carter of Carrollton, and brother, Dr. W. Ed Smith of Chattanooga, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. Funeral service will be on Sunday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Lee Paulk, Dr. Joe Parrish, Dr. Jack Crews, and Mrs. Merritt Lane officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Reynolds and Jack Barr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brett Carter, Matt Carter, Derrick Manley, Clifford Williams, Met Lane and Greg Lane. Nurses from the Steve Worthy Maternity Center at TMC will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Johns Hopkins University, Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, 720 Rutland Ave., Ross Building 558C, Baltimore, MD 21205.
