Mrs. Ruth Barr Perdue, 92, of Haralson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010. Mrs. Perdue was born in Veal, Ga. on September 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Seaborn Lewis Barr and Susan Word Barr. She was a retired school teacher where she taught in Veal, Tyus, Ephesus, and Roopville for 31 years. She was a member of the Local Teachers Association, NEA, GEA, GRTA, Eastern Star and Roopville Baptist Church. She is survived by Virginia and Wendell Carroll of Bremen, Joyce and Charles Sorrells of Stockbridge, Darthie and Jack Sharp, Doris Craven, Mary Herring, Martha Adams all of Carrollton, Katherine Pitts of Gadsden, AL, Carol Barr of Stockbridge, GA, Jim and Carol West of Gainesville, GA, Billy and Lee Holloway, H.B. Holloway, Jr. of Gadsden, AL, a number of great nieces and nephews, 1 great great niece and 1 great great great niece. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Cliff Perdue, sisters, Inez West, Dola Boyd, Mittie Bonner, Hattie, Wordie and Juanita Barr, all of Carrollton, Ethel Brooks of Gadsden, AL; brothers, J.K. Barr, Truman Barr, Buddy Barr all of Carrollton Funeral services will be Monday June 7, 2010 at 11 am at the Roopville Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Cooke and Mrs. Emily Huckeba officiating. Pallbearers will be Kelly Carroll, Julian Smith, Phillip Adams, Gary Herring, Billy Holloway, and Judson Bell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 pm until 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Roopville Baptist Church or your favorite charity. Interment will be in the Veal Community Cemetery.
