Roger Dale
Hulsey
Jan 29, 1952 — Oct 25, 2024
Mr. Roger Dale Hulsey, of Tallapoosa, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born on January 29, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Richard Alonzo Hulsey and Dorothy Painter Hulsey.
Throughout his career, he managed the Carrollton A&P and Bremen Piggly Wiggly and was owner of Stewart Street Grocery. Later in life, he worked alongside his son as a contractor with C&R Construction, a role that allowed him to engage in one of his great loves: working with his hands and building for others.
A man of many passions, Roger loved the outdoors, grilling, and cheering on his favorite football teams. He was also a spirited enthusiast of the unexplained, spending countless hours pondering aliens and Bigfoot. Known for his kindness, he had a gift for conversation and never met a stranger, often visiting with neighbors and friends, leaving each encounter brighter with his humor and warmth.
Survivors include his wife, Sondra Hulsey; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Ashley Hulsey; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and James Spires; son, Chase Ploof; grandchildren, Blake Hulsey, Jake Turner, Logan Hulsey; great grandchildren, Brantley Hulsey, Maddie Hulsey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rubin Hulsey, Justin and Vickie Hulsey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Azona and David McElroy, Martha and Billy Owens, Alpha Jo and Raymond Morris, Glenda Turner and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Gail Thaxton Hulsey; brothers, Richard Hulsey, James Hulsey, Alfred Hulsey and sister, Jeanette Byers.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 12 pm to 2 pm. Funeral service will follow the visitation in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home at 2 pm with Pastor Wayne Reddish officiating.
In honor of Roger's relaxed and friendly spirit, the family requests casual dress for his service.
Interment will be in the Church at Carrollton Cemetery with Blake Hulsey, Logan Hulsey, Jake Turner, Chris Hulsey, Milton Adamson and James Spires serving as pallbearers.
