Obituary

Mr. Robert Charles Scherm, age 88, of Youngsville, NC, formerly of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024.

He was born on June 5, 1936 in Manhattan, New York, son of the late Robert Charles Scherm, Sr. and Elizabeth Helen Kopp Scherm.

Mr. Scherm enlisted in the Army after graduation and was stationed in Germany. Once out he graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Food Science and was an avid Dawg fan. He was a sports shooter and former member of the Little River Gun Club. One of his favorite past times was fishing with his son. He also was a passionate stamp collector and was always on the hunt for the next stamp to complete his collection. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and watching classic movies.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Scherm; daughter and son-in-law, Angela Scherm Adsit (Floyd); son and daughter-in-law, Robert Charles Scherm Jr., (Andrea); grandchildren, Katie Martin Giles (Randy), Chandler Martin; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Armstrong and sister, Doris Scherm.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 5 PM – 7 PM at Almon Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held.

Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Scherm's memory to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, Maryland 20852.
