Obituary

Mr. Robert Leo Adams, age 84, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Born on December 21, 1941, in Flint, Michigan, Robert was the son of the late Robert David Adams and Lois McCrossin Newberry. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Pat Adams, and his sister, Kathy Adams O'Neal.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy at the beginning of the Vietnam War. During his military service, he participated in atomic bomb testing, worked with radar systems and electronics, and was a member of the all Navy basketball team. Following his military service, Robert worked in the aerospace industry before he and his beloved wife, Marilyn, became owners of a fabric business, where they worked side by side for many years.

A faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, Robert was also a familiar face at the Burger King Breakfast Club, where friendships were formed and stories were shared over countless cups of coffee. He never met a stranger and found genuine joy in helping others whenever he could. Whether lending a hand, offering encouragement, or simply taking the time to listen, Robert's kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Robert was an accomplished woodworker who enjoyed creating with his hands, but one of his greatest passions was caring for his lawn. He took tremendous pride in keeping it immaculate.

Even while courageously battling cancer, Robert continued thinking of others. He chose to participate in experimental cancer treatments through Emory, believing that even if the treatments did not benefit him, they might one day help someone else. That selfless decision reflected the generous and compassionate man he was throughout his life.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Marilyn Adams; his sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Wendy Adams and Steve and Monica Adams; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Cathy Adams; along with numerous extended family members and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 101 Somerset Place, Carrollton, Georgia 30117. American Legion Post 143 will provide military honors.

Following the service, Robert's cremated remains will be scattered in the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church Memorial Garden Fund, 101 Somerset Place, Carrollton, GA 30116.
