Obituary

Rita Lynn Thompson, age 59, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Rita was born on March 21, 1966, in Carrollton, Georgia, to the late Lewis Langley and Frances Tarpley Langley. She dedicated 19 years of her life working as a seamstress with Superior Recreational Products (a PlayCore company) where she was deeply loved by her work family. Rita was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Church in Carrollton.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Jeremy Herb, Jerick (Spring) Herb, Sean Thompson; her grandsons, Weston Herb and Isaac Herb; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Leslie Langley, Tony and Penni Langley; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Randy Crawford, Mary and Pat Christman, Debra and Rick Freeman, Sherry and Richard Robinson, JoAnn and Scott Tarpley; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Langley and Margie Langley; a host of nieces and nephews; and her best friends, Penny and Richard Edwards, and Susan Reese.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Stacey Thompson; her son, Jacob Herb; her brothers, Render Langley and Terry Langley; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jay and Ann Warnick.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Almon Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home, a day that would have marked Rita's 60th birthday.
