Mr. Richard Michael Birch, age 71 of Carrollton, Georgia died Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Richard was born on June 6, 1944 in New York City, New York, the son of the late William E. Birch and Maria Elena Perez Birch. He was a veteran having served as a medic in the Air Force during the Vietnam war, however, he was stationed in the Philippines and not in Vietnam. Richard had a Masters degree and had worked as a Corporate Controller for McKinley Properties in Michigan, was an insurance agent in Michigan and Georgia, later retiring from the Georgia Department of Labor. He was active in the Carrollton Senior Center and Ephesus Baptist Church in Winston, Georgia. He had a love for cooking and music. He enjoyed movies, working crossword puzzles, trivia and spending time with his friends. Survivors include his stepsons and their wives, Keith Michael (Rose Ann) Mulligan of Chandler, Arizona, Kevin James (Jenny) Mulligan of Commerce Township, Michigan; sister-in-law and her husband, Rosemary (Ronnie) Arnold of Douglasville, Georgia; grandchildren, Margaret Rose Mulligan, Andrea Elizabeth Mulligan, Daniel Nathan Mulligan, Aidan Mulligan, Ryan Mulligan; niece, Alicia Arnold; nephew, Eric Arnold; special friends, Gary and Nancy Smith of Villa Rica. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Grace Burgan Birch and son, Eric Luther. In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated and no service is planned at this time.
