Mr. Rayburn E. Stallings, age 95 of Salem Church Road, Carrollton died Sunday, February 20, 2011. Mr. Stallings was born in Carroll County on March 14, 1915, the son of the late Hiram Stallings and Sallie Nixon Stallings. He was retired from United Press International, a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy and member of Salem Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Carol Lloyd of Carrollton, Linda Stallings of Carrollton; sisters, Dorothy Henderson of Fairburn, Margaret Barone of Acworth; grandchildren, Dr. Gregory T. Lloyd, Matthew C. Lloyd, Jennifer E. Collins, Kristen D. Cogan, Mi Ran Flott, In Joshua Lloyd and 14 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Stella V. Stallings, second wife, Leitha H. Stallings; brothers, Ronald Stallings and R. L. Stallings. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 24 at 11 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Milford Ballenger officiating. Interment will be in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion Post #143 folding and presenting the U.S. Flag.
