Updated dates and times. Pastor Ivan Lee Shope of Carrollton, Georgia went home to be with his Lord on January 27, 2014 at the age of 30. Pastor Shope was born in Carrollton, Georgia on January 23, 1984, the son of James Jasper Wingo, Sr. and Sheila Inez Shope Bonner. Ivan was loved by many. He was an avid Georgia Tech fan and was the Pastor of Freedom Point Church in Carrollton. For those who knew him; knew of his great love of God and his passion for reaching people for Christ. Ivan was known by many as a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and pastor. He loved his family very much; even the Georgia Fans. He will always be in the hearts of the youth at Freedom Point Church, who knew him as pastor and friend. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer H. Shope; mother, Sheila Bonner of Carrollton; father and step-mother, James Jasper Wingo, Sr. and Joyce Wingo of Eastaboga, Alabama; brothers, James Jasper Wingo, Jr. of Carrollton, Joshua Newborn of Eastaboga, Alabama; sisters, Delinda Pointer of Eastaboga, Alabama, Sherri Bell of Eastaboga, Alabama; maternal grandparents, Doyle Shope, Sr. of Carrollton, Inez Richardson of Carrollton and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, January 31 at 5 p.m. at the Freedom Point Church with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Pallbearers will be Chad Smith, Ben Kilgore, Brian Kilgore, Kenneth Shope, Bobby Shope, Ted Soles, Randall Holcombe and Doyle Shope, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Point Church, 498 Lovvorn Road, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
