Obituary

Mrs. Opal Mildred Farmer Nicholson, age 100 of Austell, formerly of Carrollton died Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Mrs. Nicholson was born in Carroll County on January 11, 1910, the daughter of the late James S. Farmer and Myrtie Harris Farmer. She had taught school, was retired from Southern Railroad, served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and a member of Bethany Christian Church. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Harris and Carrie Farmer of Austell; two nephews and several great nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Nicholson; sisters, Ruby Farmer, Goldie Crefasi and a niece. Funeral service will be Friday, February 26 at 2 o'clock at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Minister Allen Howard officiating. Pallbearers will be Donnie Newsom, Matthew Newsom, Wesley Newsom, Derek Farmer, Greg Farmer and Jimmy Duke. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Interment will be in Bethany Christian Church Cemetery.
