Oktay "Tye" Cene age 90, passed away on June 30, 2025, in Carrollton, Georgia. He was born on June 9, 1935, in Izmir, Turkey, and was the only child of the late Kazim and Ayla Cene.

Oktay attended high school at Ankara College before moving to the United States to pursue higher education. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he also played on the university's tennis team.

Following graduation, Oktay began his professional career with Rich's Department Store, contributing to the design and construction of several retail locations in the Atlanta area. In 1966, he returned to Turkey to fulfill his military service obligation, serving for two years under a two-star general. Upon completing his service, he returned to the U.S. and joined Southwire Company, where he worked until his retirement.

In retirement, Oktay dedicated time to volunteering at Tanner Medical Center until health challenges made it difficult to continue. He had a lifelong passion for flying airplanes and was an avid tennis player and fan. He also enjoyed attending Georgia Tech football and basketball games, playing concert piano, and watching his sons participate in sports.

He is survived by his two sons, Christopher Salih Cene and John-Tyler Cene; and two grandsons, Austin Brock Cene and Jackson Charles Cene.

A private intimate service will be held.
