Novie W. Wilkes Mrs. Novie West Wilkes, 98, of Pierce Street, Carrollton passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010. Mrs. Wilkes was born in Cleburne County, AL on October 15, 1912, the daughter of the late Henry G. West and Fronie Williams West. Mrs. Wilkes was a homemaker, but earlier in life she worked as a looper at Marion Hosiery Mills, and dietician at Koffee Kart. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, and member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 66 years where she worked some in the nursery, and Faithful Sharing Believers Sunday School Class. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Pam Wilkes, Jimmy Wilkes, brother and sisters-in-law, Lindsey and Frances West, Louise West, all of Carrollton, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Hoover West and sister, Cora Lee Newman. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 14 at 3 P. M. at the Tabernacle Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Dr. Howard Cobble officiating. Music will be rendered by Alan Schantz and Jan Adams. Pallbearers will be Franklin McLure, Tom Park, Kelvin Graham, Jerry Strickland, Charlie Almon, and Ken Chadwick. The Faithful Sharing Believers Sunday School Class, and Carrollton Adult Senior Center will sit together as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home Saturday from 5 p. m. until 7 p. m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117 or the Carrollton Senior Center Fitness Fund, 220 West Avenue, Carrollton, GA 30117.
