Nina Caudell Johnson, age 86, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 9, 1938, in Banks County, Georgia, Nina was the beloved daughter of Burch Caudell and Belle Andrews Caudell Shirley.
Nina graduated from Newnan High School in 1956 and married soon after, devoting her life to her family and community. A dedicated homemaker, Nina poured her heart into raising her children, attending their sporting events, and actively participating in the Parent-Teacher Association. She was also a skilled bridge player, member of the Hunt Girls Investments group which brought together strong friendships and an avid reader.
Her love for community involvement extended to Carrollton High School, where she played an instrumental role in establishing the school's booster club. Her efforts and dedication were recognized when she was inducted into the Carrollton High School Hall of Fame—a testament to her enduring legacy in the local community.
She spent much of her earlier years worshiping at First Christian Church before later attending Tabernacle Baptist Church. Her warmth, generosity, and devotion to family and community will forever be cherished.
Nina is survived by her husband, Hugh "Boogie" Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike (Karen) Johnson, Mitchell (Rebecca) Johnson, and Bob Johnson; daughter, Susan Rowell; grandchildren and spouses, Michael (Olivia) Johnson, Nick (Brandi) Johnson, Andy (Brooke) Johnson, Ben (Liles) Johnson, Elizabeth (JR) Wright, Tyler Futch, Jordan Futch, Quinton Cooper, Molly Rowell, Emily Rowell, and Kimberly Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Ouida Kent and brother, David Shirley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her son, Bill Johnson, her brother, Dale Shirley and special niece, Kim Kent.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at Almon Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Lou Grimmett officiating and remarks given by Mrs. Beverly Kaiser and Mr. Wayne Garner.
Inurnment will take place at Carroll Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or Tabernacle Baptist Church, 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117.
