Jane “Telva” Wood, age 100, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026, following a long and well-lived life.
Mrs. Wood was born April 26, 1926, in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Willie Oren Cook and Myrtie Jones Cook. Over the course of a century, she witnessed countless changes in the world around her, yet the things she valued most remained constant—her faith, her family, and the simple blessings of home.
A devoted homemaker, Mrs. Wood spent her life caring for her family and creating a warm and welcoming home. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing and embroidery, talents that reflected both her creativity and patience. She also enjoyed canning, cooking, and gardening and took great pride in the work of her hands. These were more than hobbies to her; they were ways she cared for the people she loved and traditions she passed along through the generations.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Through 100 years of joys, hardships, changes, and blessings, her life was a testimony to perseverance, devotion, and the enduring importance of family.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her son, Jerry Wood; grandchildren, Ben (Jennifer) Wood, Ginna (Ron) Jordan, and Libby (Chad) Carter; great-grandchildren, Brett, Dylan, Maddie, Sydney, Livia, Wyatt, and Colt; and sister, Rachel Noles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar W. Wood; sons, Larry Wood and Barry Wood; brothers, Hoy Cook, Aaron Cook, and Rayford Cook; and sister, Monzelle Cooper.
The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Roberson officiating and her grandson, Ben Wood, delivering the eulogy. Music will be provided by Eddie Cook.
Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens.
Alan Cooper, Kim Cook, Bruce Cook, Chad Carter, Wyatt Carter, and Colt Carter will serve as pallbearers.
