Obituary

Mrs. Gladys Smoot Eddleman, 98 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living. Mrs. Eddleman was born in Meriwether County, Georgia on May 24, 1921, the daughter of the late John W. Smoot and Maude O. Morris Smoot. She was a member of the 1st graduating class of West Georgia College with a Bachelor's degree. She went on to receive her Master's degree from West Georgia College. Mrs. Eddleman began teaching at Little Tallapoosa School, then went on to teach at Smyrna School, Mt. Zion Elementary School, and then at College Street Elementary School retiring after 30 years in education. She was a member of the Carrollton First United Methodist Church and was a faithful member of the Adult Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Eddleman was preceded in death by her parents, husband, B. F. Eddleman, son, Glenn Eddleman, and grandson, Ben Eddleman. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth (Joe) Colley of LaGrange, GA; Benjie (Steve) Wilson of Fleming Island, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Donald (Kay) Eddleman of Carrollton, GA; daughter-in-law, Sue Eddleman of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Gail (Ed) Strehle, Karen (Steve) Lankford, Jim (Treva) Eddleman, Ken Colley, Diane (Chris) Bartlett, Amanda Wilson, Matt (Carole) Eddleman, Robby (Kristina) Eddleman, Donna (Montrell) McClendon,; 17 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue (Bona) Puckett of Tucker, GA and Evelyn Findley of Woodbury, GA. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Stephens and Rev. Martha Dye officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Eddleman, Matt Eddleman, Robby Eddleman, Ken Colley, Chris Bartlett, Steve Lankford, Ed Strehle, and Montrell McClendon. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandsons, Eddie King, Mitchell Eddleman, Jacob Eddleman, Eli Clemons, Joe Colley, Ben Strehle, Finny McClendon, and Robby George Eddleman. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
