Obituary

Mr. Walter Kenneth Jiles, aged 81, of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Kenneth was born in Bibb County, Georgia, on May 21, 1942, the son of the late Walter Mayfield Jiles and Mary Frances Ashmore Jiles. He was married to his wife, Sue Jiles for 63 years. He dedicated 37 years of his life in maintenance and engineering at Southwire, demonstrating remarkable dedication and expertise in his profession. Beyond his professional pursuits, Kenneth enjoyed music, particularly playing the guitar and singing. He was a member of the Leftovers, a band known for performing at the Whitesburg Depot. Upon retirement, Kenneth continued his work as a residential electrician as he indulged his passion for woodworking and antiquing and embraced the serenity of camping. He was also a member of Word of Life Gospel Ministries, where his faith was a guiding light in his life.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Jiles; his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Darren Laney; his son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Shelly Jiles; his grandchildren and their spouses, Dustin and Mary Beth Laney, Benjamin Laney, Tyler and Mikey Jiles, Ryan and Bethany Jiles, and Myranda and Jake Duncan; as well as his great-grandchildren, Gracyn and Brenton Laney, Emma Laney, Rylie Jiles, Rhett Jiles, Raelyn Jiles, Walter Jiles, and Jackson Duncan. He is also survived by his sisters, Joyce Bradley and Carol Smith, and his brother, Randy Jiles. Kenneth was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Jayson Duncan, his sister, Jeanette Dial, and his brother, Tommy Jiles.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, March 27, 2024, from 5 pm until 8 pm. A funeral service celebrating Kenneth's life will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 2 pm at Word of Life Gospel Ministries, with Pastor Keith Jiles and Rev. Dustin Laney officiating. His body will lie in state from 1 pm until the service begins.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Laney, Benjamin Laney, Tyler Jiles, Ryan Jiles, Jake Duncan, Jimmy Jiles, Ricky Jiles, and Mickey Jiles. Honorary pallbearers will be Gracyn Laney, Emma Laney, Raelyn Jiles, Rylie Jiles, Brenton Laney, Rhett Jiles, Walter Jiles, and Jackson Duncan.

Interment will be in Carrollton City Cemetery.
