Moreland Adams, Jr., of Atlanta, GA, passed away on March 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 28, 1957, to Nellie Walker Adams and the late Moreland Adams, Sr.

Moreland had an extraordinary gift for connecting with people. He never met a stranger and had an uncanny ability to make everyone he encountered feel special and valued. Whether through a warm smile, a listening ear, or a heartfelt conversation, Moreland was a source of comfort and joy. His empathetic nature and genuine concern for others were defining aspects of his character.

At the heart of Moreland's life was his deep faith and love for the Lord. His spiritual beliefs were not just words but actions, evident in how he treated every person he met. Moreland's faith fueled his boundless love and compassion, guiding him to treat others with kindness, respect, and understanding. His life was a living testament to the principles he held dear, influencing every interaction with warmth and empathy.

Guided by the values of service and dedication instilled by his parents, Moreland embarked on a lifelong career in healthcare. At just 16 years old, he began working as an orderly at the former Villa Rica City Hospital, where his passion for helping others took root. He obtained his Emergency Medical Technician certification in 1975 and started working for Metro Ambulance Service as the 911 emergency medical service in Carroll County. When Metro was sold to form West Georgia Ambulance Service, Moreland served as the company's Vice President and Director of Operations. In 1986, he founded Atlanta West Ambulance Service, providing emergency and non-emergency private ambulance services in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. In 1998, the company was sold to American Medical Response of Georgia, where Moreland became an instrumental part of AMR's sales and marketing department.

In 2000, Moreland joined Southeastrans (now Verida) as Compliance Manager and quickly rose through the ranks to become vice president of provider relations, executive vice president of operations, and chief operations officer, a role he held until health issues required him to step down in 2014. He continued to provide valuable input and guidance to the company as vice president of special projects until his retirement in 2019. Moreland's steadfast commitment to service quality and patient satisfaction remains a core value of the organization he faithfully served for almost two decades.

Moreland was preceded in death by his father, Moreland Adams, Sr. He is survived by his beloved partner, James Netherland, and his daughter, Monica Levell. He also leaves behind his devoted mother, Nellie Walker Adams, and his siblings: brothers Steve Adams and Gregory Adams, sisters Mercedine Harrison and Sharon (Connell) Walker, and sister-in-love Alicia Netherland. Moreland was a cherished uncle to his nephews Dexter Shackelford, Tyrone Hutchinson, and Jeffrey (Nicole) Adams, and to his nieces Val Shackelford, Dr. Yolanda (Chaka) Allen, Ronda (Gerald) Jones, Candi (Yusef) Neal, Dena Adams-McNish Geoffrey), Katelynn Hill, and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Carrollton. His body will lie in state from 11:00 AM until the service begins.

Serving as pallbearers are Todd Camp, Clyde McKee, Joe McCormick, Andrew Tomys, Todd Robinson, and Elliott Parham.

Interment will follow at West Georgia Memorial Park. A repast will be held at the home of Steve Adams.
