Mr. John Michael "Mike" Barnes, age 71 of Villa Rica, Georgia died Friday, June 19, 2015. Mr. Barnes was born in Carroll County, Georgia on December 4, 1943, the son of the late Benjamin Carl Barnes and Nellie Kate Rainwater Barnes. He attended West Georgia College and later graduated from Atlanta Law School. Mike was well known throughout Carrollton and surrounding communities having worked in car sales at Walker Cadillac the past 24 years. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Thomas Barnes; son, John Barnes of Carrollton; daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Barnes of Carrollton; son, Drew Barron of Villa Rica; grandchildren, John Andrew Barnes, Benjamin Cole Barnes, Katie Grace Barron; several great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barbara Barnes of Carrollton; aunt, Jessie Barnes Roop and nephew, Buddy Barnes. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cliff Barnes. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Thomas officiating and Mr. Greg Walker and Dr. Joe Parrish giving remarks. Pallbearers will be Tony Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Tim Fordham, Mark Foster, Todd Rupp and Jim Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be David Perry, Rodger Miles, Grady Satterwhite, George Lynch, David Tisinger and Fred Walker. Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens.
