Mr. Michael Lee Hood, 70, of Roopville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024. Born in Sykesville, Maryland, on July 26, 1954, he was the son of the late Donald and Eleanor Wilson Hood.

Michael was a talented painter, skilled carpenter, and truly a jack of all trades, always ready to lend a hand or offer his expertise. He lived most of his life in Bradenton, Florida working and raising his family. He retired from Cox Chevrolet, where he was known for his dedication and hard work. After retiring he and his wife moved to Roopville, Georgia. Michael found great joy in the outdoors, whether relaxing at the beach, hiking the mountains, or snow skiing.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Hood; children, Chrissy Owens, Christopher Hood, Charly Taylor, Cody Hood; grandchildren, Jessica Ortez, Racheal O'Brien, Elizabeth Steger, Raelynn Hood, Grayson Hood, Nathan Hood, Eleanor Taylor, Carter Taylor; great grandchildren, Damien, Joshua, Khali; sister, Marie Jones. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Hood.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held in June 2025 during the family's annual beach trip to Anna Maria Island, a place he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch, PO BOX 1114, Holmes Beach, Florida 34218, honoring Michael's love for the beach and preserving the beauty of the natural world he cherished so much.
