Melva Janet Armstrong Williams, 90, of The Stewart House, Carrollton, Georgia, passed away, Thursday April 15, 2010. Mrs. Williams was born November 3, 1919 to the late Gordie McGhee Armstrong and the late James Worth Armstrong in Gaston County North Carolina. She was the wife to the late Blaine Joe Williams. Over the years she lived in many places, including many years in Greenville, South Carolina, but her heart was always in Gaston County. To her many friends and family she was affectionately known as GoGo, which gives a clear picture of how she led her life. GoGo was a sales person by nature, and after retiring as a branch manager for Stanley Home products, rather than sit down, she launched a career in real estate, working with Joy Realty in Greenville, South Carolina. She received numerous recognitions for her success in real estate sales. GoGo was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cramerton, North Carolina. Mrs. Williams leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Dan Brandon of Gastonia, North Carolina, and Scottie and Steve Jennings of Carrollton, Georgia. She also leaves four grandchildren and six great-grandgirls. The families include Dan (Debbie) Brandon, Jr. and Casey; Melissa Brandon; Scott (Leesa) Barber and Elizabeth, Sydney, and Caroline; and Katy (Chris) Threadgill and Blaine and Allie; step grandchildren, Julie Jennings, Allison Kocamis, Matt Jennings. Along with her parents and husband, Blaine Joe Williams, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Vernie Lowrance, Eula Bush, Elizabeth Grey, Edna Allen, and Emma Stevens, and one brother, James Armstrong. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, Cramerton, North Carolina on Saturday, April 17, 2010 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be Monday, April 19 in Cosby, Tennessee.
