Obituary

Melinda Louise Bishop, age 75, of Woodland, Alabama, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Born in Cornelia, Georgia, on July 2, 1950, Mrs. Bishop was the daughter of the late Ben Allie Gibson and Louise Dorothy Gibson. She was a member of the Baptist faith and worked for many years as a machine operator with Star Packaging.

Melinda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who truly cherished time spent with her family. Her greatest joy in life came from being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She had a deep love for travel, especially visiting her favorite destination, the Great Smoky Mountains. She was a devoted Elvis Presley fan and recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of visiting Graceland with family. She will be remembered for her warmth, her generous nature, her love of family, and the special moments she shared with those closest to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randy Bishop; and her brothers, John Gibson and Harold Gibson.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Giles; daughter, Sandra High; son, Chris Bishop; grandchildren, Haley Durden, Dylan High, Tiffany Bishop, Marcus Bishop, Jeremy Bishop, Daryl Taylor, Rachel Bishop; great grandchildren, Harper High, Owen Durden, Addison Bishop, Eliza Bishop, Bella Myrick, and Aubree Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 12 noon until 2 PM at Almon Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home.
