Mrs. Elizabeth Maxine Muse Spence, age 88, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

Born January 4, 1937, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Muse and Vergie Shadrix Muse. Maxine worked for many years in the accounts payable department at Southwire before retiring. She was a lifelong member of Abilene Baptist Church and lived her life guided by faith, family, and quiet strength.

Maxine was widowed at a young age when her husband, George H. Spence, passed away in 1975. With unshakable devotion, she raised their three children alone, always putting their needs before her own. Her children never lacked love, stability, or support—a testament to her determination and deep maternal love.

She found joy in her flowers, but her greatest delight was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her boundless pride and happiness.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Robin Spence, and Tommy and Noreen Spence; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Picklesimer; grandchildren, Tyler (Lexi) Spence, Cody (Ashley) Spence, Donavan Spence, Zachary Picklesimer, and Cadye (Brian) Chesna; great-grandchildren, Miles Picklesimer, Aubrey Picklesimer, Camryn Spence, Kayce Spence and her brother, J.E. Muse.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Gray.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care.

A time of visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Almon Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Anthony Puckett officiating. Interment will be in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery with Tyler Spence, Zachary Picklesimer, Donavan Spence, Cody Spence, Brian Chesna, Mark Spence and Jimmy Spence serving as pallbearers.

Maxine leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, faith, and perseverance—a life well lived and a family forever blessed by her example.
