Maureen O'Toole
Whitlock
Mar 3, 1944 — Jun 1, 2025
Maureen O'Toole Whitlock, age 81, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by family on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Born March 3, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Edward James O'Toole and Catherine Girten O'Toole. She retired after a fulfilling career as a travel agent, but her life's greatest journeys were those of faith, service, and family.
Maureen was an active and devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she poured her heart into ministry and fellowship. She was honored as the OLPH Volunteer of the Year, chaired the church's 50th anniversary celebration, organized the parish bazaar for two years, assisted with the monthly frozen food distribution, and hosted the monthly Juliet luncheons for parish women. Her love for community and her Catholic faith shone brightly in everything she did. Before relocating to Carrollton, Maureen was named Volunteer of the Year by the daughters of the American Revolution in Greenville, Illinois.
She just wanted to put smiles on people's faces. A natural encourager, Maureen began a greeting card ministry while caring for her mother in a nursing home, a mission she lovingly continued for years while in Greenville and after moving to Georgia. Each month, she gave cards to 14 nursing homes, reaching over 1,200 residents with messages of cheer and compassion.
Maureen is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Jim Whitlock; her children and their spouses, Stephen (Kelli) Whitlock, Karen (Taigh) White, and Kevin (Michelle) Whitlock; her cherished grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Justin, Aaron, William, and Isabel. She is also survived by her siblings, Carol (Ron) Remedi, Don (Jeanette) O'Toole, and Eileen (Norm) Pattenaude; and her sister-in-law, Elaine O'Toole. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sister-in-law, Edward (Marjorie) O'Toole and Kenneth O'Toole.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Almon Funeral Home, with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 PM.
