Mrs. Mary Hickman Norton, age 79 of Northside Drive, Carrollton died Saturday, September 17, 2011. Mrs. Norton was born in Mountain Home, Arkansas on April 12, 1932, the daughter of the late William Hickman and Fay Brown Hickman. She had worked as a legal secretary with Peoples Bank of Carrollton and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Greg Cook of San Jose, California; daughter-in-law, Nita Norton of Carrollton; sister, WillaDean Perry of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Norton, Matthew Cook, Peter Cook, Megan Dover, Laura Lowman; great grandchildren, Owen and Olivia Dover. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar William Norton, son, Michael William Norton and sister, Clarice Alman. The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be Friday, September 23 at 2 o'clock at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Lanny Reich and Dr. Allen Hunt officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Cook, Peter Cook, Greg Shackelford, Robert Castel, David Dover, Marshall Lowman, Greg Cook and Luke Price. Honorary pallbearers will be John T. and Helen Fay Lewis, Dr. Edgar Jenkins, Murray Walker and the Staff of Horizon Bay Assisted Living.
