Martha Nan Pearce Hardegree, 89, loving known as "Mickey and Mama Mickey", went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. She is survived by her daughters, Patti deGaris Jacques and Freddie Elaine McDaniel, of Carrollton, GA; grandchildren Alicia Ward (Justin), Autumn Garber (David), Jackson deGaris (Lexie) and Amanda Wissel (Randy); great-grandchildren Jacob, Noah, Grace, Charlotte, Olivia, Pearce and Maggie and several cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She will be met in Heaven by her beloved parents Amos Radford and Annie Ophelia Pearce; her husband of 65 years, Master Sergeant Freddie Talmadge Hardegree; sister Julia Preston Neely; her in-laws Harry and Elizabeth "Bessie" Hardegree; and sons-in-law, Ricky McDaniel and Steven Jacques.

Mickey was born April 30, 1934, in Carrollton, GA. She was baptized and confirmed at New Hope Methodist Church where she remained a member until death however, she spent many of her retired years also attending Midway Church where she led several programs. She attended Mt. Zion public schools her entire life, graduating from Mt. Zion High School where she was the captain of the varsity basketball team. She later earned a master's degree from Florida State University.

She took pride in being an Army wife, moving around the country and world, supporting her husband, raising their daughters, and developing her career as a budget officer. She served in this role for the Department of Defense in the Panama Canal for several decades, working her way to top management, before retiring back to Carrollton in 1993 to be with family and manage the real estate rental business she and Freddie built.

Mickey was a devoted Christan who spent much of her retired years working on mission-driven endeavors. She volunteered time and resources to Carrollton Jail Ministries helping women find Christ and turn their lives around in and out of jail. As part of that organization, she helped co-found the Clemmie House of Carrollton. She also served as a volunteer and board member of the Pregnancy Resource Center.

She loved gardening, cross words, reading the Bible, Bible study, eating Big Daddy's homemade ice cream and Mama Julia's pies, checking Tiny Beans to see her great grands grow and watching the Jimmy Swaggart Show. Her absence from Earth will be felt deeply by all who loved her and were touched by her generous spirit. The family would like to publicly thank caregiver Amy Meixner, Natalie Haire and their family for their care, support, and love over the past few years.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Almon Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 14 from 4 - 6 pm. A funeral and burial service will be held Friday, December 15 at 11 am, at New Hope Methodist Church in Mt. Zion with Rev. Jimmy Bryan officiating. All are invited to a celebration of life immediately following at the home of Autumn Garber and David Griffin.

Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial to the Community Assistance Program at New Hope Methodist Church or Tanner Hospice in memory of Martha "Mickey" Hardegree.
