Obituary

Mrs. Marie Lott Lewis age 85, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Mrs. Lewis was born on December 14, 1939 in Ambrose, Georgia the daughter of the late Donnie and Rachel Merritt Lott. She was a retired master beautician and owned Village Hair Styles in Lithia Springs, Ga for 25+ years and was instrumental in establishing her husband's business, Lewis Fire Protection, Inc. She was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Douglas, Georgia and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrollton, Georgia. She loved cooking, gardening, painting and sewing and shared those passions with her grandchildren as they were growing up. She loved traveling and her home away from home was Hawaii.

Survivors include her husband, Walter H. Lewis; daughter, Tina Rachel Lewis Maxian (Rick) of Suwanee, Georgia; grandchildren, Mikayla Rachel Maxian and Richard M. Maxian III "Trey"; sister, Bonnie Thompson of Rome, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Allen Lewis (Susan) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Russell Lewis (Linda) of Knoxville, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Rhoda Hunter, Oswald "Bud" Lott, Alfred Lott, Mary Alice Hendry, M.J. Lott and Johnny Lott.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 3 pm from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Father Joseph Wagner officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1 pm until the service hour.

A service will be held from the chapel of Sims Funeral Home, 211 North Peterson Avenue, Douglas, Georgia on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2 pm. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 noon until the service hour.

Pallbearers will be Rick Maxian, Trey Maxian, Al Lott, Donnie Lott, Ken Lott and Michael Dorminey. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Hunter and Ronald Hunter.

Interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery, Douglas, Georgia.
