Marie Louise
Bolinger
Jan 6, 1926 — Dec 1, 2023
Marie (Eigenauer) Bolinger was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on January 6, 1926. Marie passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023. Marie was 97 years old, just one month from her 98th birthday.
Marie had one younger sister (Betty Hanson) and one younger brother (Jack); both are deceased. Marie grew up in West Allis, Wisconsin, was married and had two daughters, Carol (Goegeline) and Darlene (McKeithen). Marie's life revolved around her two daughters.
After Marie's divorce from her first husband, when her two daughters were adults, Marie moved to California to start a new life near her sister and her sister's family. Years later Marie married Don Otto, who was the love of her life. Five years later Don passed away after a massive heart attack. Marie was always concerned and caring about others and needed to be helpful to another. Several years later Marie married Ken Bolinger and Marie was his friend and helpmate for many years until he passed away in 2005.
During those years of Marie living in Orange County, California, Carol and Darlene often visited and talked on the phone.
When Ken Bolinger passed away, Marie's sister, Betty and Betty's two sons were also deceased and Marie decided it was time for her to move to be closer to one of her daughters. Carol was still in Wisconsin and Darlene was in Georgia. Marie decided to move to Georgia, rather than move back to snow country. Marie battled breast cancer at age 80.
Marie lived in a senior community that was completely independent living. Through the years Marie needed more and more assistance. Darlene was there often and Carol visited each year. In 2010 Carol also moved to Georgia and both daughters often visited and assisted Marie.
At the end of 2022 and early 2023 Marie had several falls, a small fracture, pneumonia and had two stays in the hospital and rehab. At that point Marie needed full time assistance. Carol and Darlene helped Marie to get settled in at Delmar Gardens in Smyrna, where Marie received wonderful care and assistance. Carol and Darlene were either both there or one of them spent time with Marie almost every day. It was a special time for the three to be able to be together, knowing time was limited.
In addition to Carol and Darlene, Marie had many friends (in Wisconsin, California and Georgia), nieces and a nephew in Wisconsin, a cousin in New Jersey who Marie spoke with often, and Darlene's family which gave Marie a son-in-law (Mike), two granddaughters (Mary Beth & Janet), three great granddaughters (Elena, Katherine Grace & Julia) and just recently a great-great grandson (Mason). Marie was liked and loved by all who knew her and all will miss her.
Marie was a believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. We are comforted knowing Marie is now in the presence of Jesus Christ!
A private family service will be held.
