Marian Shirey Wynn, age 88 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away December 23, 2023. Several of her loving family members were at her side.
A Carroll County native, Marian was born in Tyus on July 25, 1935 to the late Verna Harris Shirey and Opal Shirey. After graduating from Carrollton High School, she attended Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Marian met and married Frank Barker Wynn, Sr. in 1953. After Frank and Marian moved to the Atlanta area where she worked for Southern Bell for eight years. She left Southern Bell to raise her family. Marian had two children Frank Barker Wynn, Jr., and Barri Wynn Howse.
After Frank's retirement, the couple moved back to their hometown of Carrollton. Marian became active and made many new friends in both a garden club and a bridge club. Over the years, she was admired for her generosity and kindness to those who needed help. She had a way of finding "free" furniture and other household goods to refurbish and share where needed.
Marian is survived by her son, F. Bart Wynn, Jr. (Cheri) of Fayetteville, GA; and daughter Barri W.Howse (Mike) of Powder Springs, GA. She had three grandchildren, Heath Wynn (Rebecca) of Savannah, Heather Wynn of Fayetteville, Brittany Shratter (Danny) of Kennesaw; great grandchildren, Jackson Shratter, Garrett Barker Wynn, Michael Shratter, Clara Ann Wynn; and a brother and sister-in-law, Doyal (Ann) Shirey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Wynn, Sr.; and sister, Frances Wynn Moore.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, December 30 at 2 PM at Roopville Road Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Koon officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 PM until the service hour.
Interment will be in Carroll Memory Gardens with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers, Heath Wynn, Tony Galante, Scott Wallace, Kenny Durrough, Tom Combs and Danny Shratter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Group of Carroll County, Inc., PO Box 1273, Carrollton, GA 30112.
