Margaret Inez Teal
Mcdonald
Oct 16, 1927 — Dec 26, 2024
Margaret Inez Teal McDonald of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully December 26, 2024. She was born October 16, 1927, the daughter of the late L.E. and Jimmie Lee Windom Teal. A native of Carroll County, she grew up in the Mt. Zion community.
Mrs. McDonald graduated from Mt. Zion High School and the Carrollton School of Commerce. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Atlantic Steel in Atlanta, Georgia. While living in Atlanta, she met the love of her life, Hubert McDonald, Jr. They married October 12, 1951, and had two children, Charles Scott and Sandra "Sandee" Teal. They raised their children in a loving home and instilled a legacy of faith and Christian values.
Hugh's engineering career led them to Savannah, Georgia, Charlotte, North Carolina, and eventually back to Dunwoody, Georgia. Inez was an avid supporter of her husband, as well as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She had many admirable qualities. A member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, she attended services faithfully and also attended Sandy Springs Baptist Church. Her favorite hobbies were playing bridge with friends and singing all types of music, especially cherished hymns. An excellent cook and hostess, Inez loved to entertain family and friends in their home. She had a true gift of hospitality that made everyone feel welcome and at ease.
When Inez and Hugh became empty nesters, she decided to re-enter the workforce and was employed by Citicorp Mortgage. While there, she perfected her computer skills and loved preparing the company newsletter.
Inez is survived by her son, Charles Scott (Cheryl) McDonald; granddaughters Shelley McDonald (Harrison) Waller of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Lauren Callaway (Brian) Nahodyl of Cumming, Georgia, and Anna Callaway (Jake) Karleskint of Kansas City, Missouri; great grandsons, Silas Rylie Karleskint and William Scott Nahodyl; brother, Dewey (Ramona) Teal of Carrollton; sister, Dr. Janice Teal, of Carrollton; son-in-law Kirk Thornburg; brother-in-law Troy Reeves, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Susanna Teal and Elizabeth "Libba" McDonald and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert McDonald, Jr.; daughter, Sandra "Sandee" Thornburg; brothers James Teal, Jerry Teal; sisters, Lillian Teal Moore, Sibyl Teal Estes, Margie Teal Reeves, Berna Teal Burson, and Ramona Teal Johnson.
The family is grateful for the excellent care from the staff of The Birches on Maple, Brookdale Assisted Living, and Tanner Medical Center. The caregivers of Heaven Sent Helpers and Family Hospice also provided wonderful care and support for her entire family.
