Wilmer Marcina Hancock Cash, born May 23, 1956, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on May 23, 2026. Born to the late Bennett Ethel Hancock and Jewell Blanche Farmer Hancock. Marcina was the baby of nine children — and though no one would openly admit it, she was known as the favorite among them.

Marcina would have been a graduate of the Class of 1975, but instead chose to follow her heart and marry the love of her life, John R. Cash, on May 1, 1975. Married by the Justice of the Peace in the back of the jail, their marriage became the beginning of a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and unwavering devotion to one another. Together they traveled across the United States during John's service in the United States Marine Corps before eventually welcoming their two children, daughter Jessica and son John.

Following retirement from military life, Marcina and John settled down in 1991, where they built a home full of love, warmth, and memories that would last generations. Marcina dedicated her life to caring for her family, and one of the greatest ways she expressed her love was through cooking. Whether feeding family, friends, neighbors, or complete strangers, no one ever left her table hungry.

Her love for cooking eventually led her to her true calling as a restaurant owner. Marcina proudly owned Main Street Diner for several years, where she could often be found at the register taking orders, chatting with customers, or sitting peacefully on the front porch greeting everyone with a warm smile and kind heart. She had a special gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved.

Thanksgiving and Christmas were especially dear to Marcina's heart. Her kitchen became the heart of the home as she prepared her famous dressing and countless meals for the people she cherished most. During the warmer months, she could often be found sitting quietly on the porch in her rocking chair, watching her beloved hummingbirds flutter around her while enjoying the peace of home and family.

While Marcina carried many titles throughout her life — wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend — her favorite title of all was "Mawmaw." She wore that name with pride and unconditional love, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. More recently, she embraced an even greater joy when she became "Great Mawmaw," a title that filled her heart beyond measure.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, John R. Cash; her daughter, Jessica Easterling and Waythan Easterling; her son, John Cash and Crystal Morgan; her beloved grandchildren, Waythan Easterling, Phillip Easterling, Riley Morgan and McKenna, Alexis Milley and Cleveland Hancock, and Reagan Milley; her treasured great-grandbabies, Ellie Hancock and Todd Morgan; and her two loving sisters, Linda Morgan and Etheleene Freeman. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Ray Hancock, Edward Hancock, Wallace Hancock; sisters, Viola Hancock Thrasher, Margaret Hancock Reid, and Brenda Hancock Kittle.

Marcina will forever be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her generous spirit, her warm hospitality, and the comfort she brought to so many through a home-cooked meal and a caring heart. Her legacy of love, laughter, strength, and devotion will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. She leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 5pm until 8pm.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 28, 2026, 1pm, at Centralhatchee First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Hancock and Rev. Mark Williams officiating.

Interment will be in Centralhatchee First Baptist Church Cemetery with Elvis Shelnutt, Paul Grainger, Riley Morgan, Phillip Easterling, Waythan Easterling and Tylon Kitchens serving as pallbearers.
