Obituary

Mrs. Malinda Ruth Bonner Muse Aitken, age 86, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024.

Mrs. Aitken was born in Carrollton, Georgia on November 4, 1937, the daughter of the late, Alfred Lynch Bonner and Sarah Ruth Duncan Bonner.

Linda was a devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt, cousin and great grandmother who was always there offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. Mother had a love and passion for many things. She was a special education school teacher who adored her students and loved coming home to tell stories about her days with them. She was also a life member of the Girl Scouts of America. She was honored by Governor Jimmy Carter with having a Linda Muse Day in the state of Georgia. She was a proud member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution. She loved nature and got such delight out of watching and naming birds and squirrels out her window especially when she wasn't able to get out of the house. Her greatest passion was for her pets, all her yorkies, cats and her latest love of our golden doodle that she would let crawl up in her lap. Mother couldn't pass a yard or estate sale without pulling in and loved to bargain for her finds. She was extremely talented in decorating and could take her treasures home and display them in ways you would have never imagined.

She loved the arts and made sure that her girls were educated in music, plays, and literature the way she had been by her parents. She also had a passion for politics if anyone was a Facebook friend of hers you are well aware. school buddies her entire life. She was an amazing cook, and florist and could tie a bow like nobody's business. More than anything she loved to laugh and it was infectious to all. There isn't a person out there that loved their family more than our mother. Her happiest days were when we were all on Edisto Beach watching her family play or go crabbing or cooking us up a low country boil and sitting around telling old stories. Above all else she set an example of strength, grace, faith.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Susan Muse Jones (Steve), Rosemary Malinda Muse; son-in-law, Jack Barr (Elizabeth); stepson, John Winfield Aitken (Christine); grandchildren, Erin Porter Riggins (Don), Elizabeth Barr Sanders (Mark), James Winfield Diffley, Samantha Jones Wix (Matt), Rosemary Sloan Diffley, Jonathan Jones, Mary Grace Diffley, Hannah Jones, Sarah Ruth Muse; great grandchildren, Rory Riggins, Gus Porter, Lhana Riggins, Sloan Riggins, Elsie Jo Porter, Hugh Sanders, Tucker Diffley, Sadie Porter; niece, Anne Booth (Michael); 1st cousin, Robert Bonner (Sue); 2nd cousin, Kent Lovvorn; and many special friends.
