Louise Burnham Hearn of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on April 29, 2025, at Higgins General Hospital and Rehab in Bremen, Ga. Mrs. Hearn was born in Carroll County, Ga., on November 25, 1925, to the late Joel Claudie and Minnie Burnham. She graduated from Roopville High School in 1942 and was the class Valedictorian. Louise graduated from West Georgia Junior College in 1944 where she received the Gordon Watson Award for highest academic achievement. She met her future husband, E. H. Hearn, Jr., also of Carroll County, at West Georgia College. They married on Dec. 25, 1944, and moved to Key West, Fla., where E.H served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Carrollton after two years and enjoyed 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2008. Louise and E.H enjoyed a wonderful life filled with many shared activities including gardening, bird watching, boating and travel to many places in the U.S. and abroad. They were both deeply involved in supporting the activities of their children and grandchildren. They also were active in the community participating in fund raising for Tanner Hospital and the University of West Georgia. Louise was a Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered in her children's local public schools. She was a member of Carrollton First United Methodist Church where she served on the altar guild and helped craft Chrismons for the church Chrismon tree. She was a member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class. In 2024 she transferred her membership to the newly formed Community First United Methodist Church.

Louise had a curious mind and a love of learning. She loved reading, puzzles and continued to learn and master new things like computer technology as a senior adult. She was a masterful seamstress, sewing beautiful clothes for her children and grandchildren and furnishings for their home.

For the past six months Louise has enjoyed being a resident at The Birches on Maple where she made many new friends and participated in a variety of activities.

In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her sisters, Reba Burnham and Rudene Hollingsworth. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Hearn Blackwell and her husband, Dr. James C. Blackwell of Dalton, Ga., and Judy Hearn Green and her husband William Robert Green of Athens, Ga. Grandchildren are Dr. J. Matthew Blackwell and his wife Sarah of Charlotte, NC, Christopher Green of Atlanta, Ga., Benjamin Green and his wife Raychale of Alpharetta, Ga., Betsy Blackwell Robeson and her husband, Col. Mastin M. Robeson of Whispering Pines, NC. Great-grandchildren are Andrew and Thomas Blackwell of Charlotte and Molly, Mastin Ill, and Clara Robeson of Whispering Pines, NC. Two special caregivers are Peggy Whittington and Judy Johnson and a special helper, Scott Holland.

There will be a private family graveside service at a future date led by Dr. Robert Brown and Rev. Ken Stephens of Community First United Methodist Church.

Interment will be at Carroll Memory Gardens.
