Obituary

Lillie Mae Cannon, age 69, of Bowdon, GA, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and service. Born in Franklin, GA, on February 22, 1954, she was the daughter of Cordie Mae Davis Johnson and the late William Henry Hand, Jr.

Lillie dedicated 39 years of her life to meaningful work, retiring in 2014 from the University of West Georgia, where she served as a procurement agent. Before her tenure at UWG, she spent 18 years with Sony Music.

Her green thumb and love for nature led her to become a certified master gardener. Lillie was actively involved in her community, generously volunteering with Open Hands United Christian Ministries. Her interests extended to bird watching, visiting national parks, embarking on Viking cruises, and exploring Central America. She achieved a remarkable milestone by visiting all 50 states.

Above all, Lillie's unwavering faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 25 years, actively participating in the Sisters in Christ Adult 6 Women's class, Praise Singers, and the Choir.

Lillie is survived by her loving husband, Tim Cannon; her mother, Cordie Mae Davis Johnson; her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Kelly Costley; grandchildren,  Dylan (Krystal Ledford) Costley, Sam (Lauren) Costley, Mackenzi (fiancé, Garrett Doss) Costley and Sophie (Bryan) Starr. She is also survived by her great-grandchild, Henry Costley. Lillie was preceded in death by her father, William Henry Hand, Jr., and her son, Paul Joshua Costley.
