Lila Brown, 89, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. She was born on November 27, 1936, in Villa Rica, Georgia, to Gerdine and Elena Conner.

Lila shared a remarkable 70-year marriage with her devoted husband, Charles Brown. Together, they raised three beloved daughters in a home rooted in faith, deep family love, and hard work.

For many years, Lila and Charles built a life on what the family fondly called a "family compound" along Lower River Road in Douglas County, where they shared land and life with Lila's sister, Elgerie, and their mother, Elena Conner. Those years were filled with shared labor, laughter, community, and enduring family bonds.

In her early years, Lila worked as a key punch operator in Atlanta. She later became a memorable figure to children in Douglas County during her years as a school bus driver. Many recall "Mrs. Brown" with affection and humor for her kindness, steady presence, and gentle authority—even those she once kicked off the bus and left on the side of the road.

Charles and Lila later made their home in Roscoe, Georgia, where they lived for more than 35 years. They deeply loved their time there and cherished the close-knit community of friends and neighbors who became an extension of their family. Roscoe was not just where they lived, but where many lasting memories were made.

Lila had a lifelong passion for antiques, and her beautiful home reflected a collection gathered over generations. She traveled throughout the Southeast with friends in search of the perfect find. Many of her treasured pieces now live on in the homes of her daughters and grandchildren.

Above all else, Lila was a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord. She worshiped and served faithfully at Victory Baptist Church in Douglasville, Sandtown Baptist Church in southwest Atlanta, and later Crossroads Church in Newnan. Lila could often be found volunteering in Vacation Bible School or caring for babies in the nursery—quietly serving wherever she was needed.

Lila is survived by her husband, Charles Brown; her sister, Elgerie Turner; and her three daughters: Renee Renfrow (Mike), Sonya Tackett (Michael), and Laura Rains (James). She also leaves behind a large and cherished family of grandchildren and great- grandchildren: Charles Renfrow (Leigh) and children Bailey and Charlie; AJ Renfrow (Beth) and children Lila and Everett; Brett Renfrow and children Austin, Aiden, and Audrey; Amy Renfrow Widener (Joey) and children Mary and Henry; Rachel Bradley; Rebekah Robertson (Matt); Erica Bennett (Chris) and son Carson; Conner Ligon (Sarah) and daughter Eleanor; and Hannah Schuetze (Mirko) and sons Johan and Jonah.

Lila lived a long life dedicated to loving and serving others. She and Charles shared a strong work ethic that they faithfully instilled in their children and grandchildren. Their home was always marked by a beautiful garden, full of vegetables not only for their own table, but also shared generously with others.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church, 4301 Roscoe Road, Newnan, Georgia 30263. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:30 p.m. A meal will be provided following the service for all attendees.
