Leslie George Hubl

"Les Hubl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of deep faith whose greatest joy was his family. Born on January 20, 1943, in Hastings, Nebraska, to George and Blanche Hubl, he built a life defined by hard work, integrity, and gratitude for the many blessings he received. He graduated from Lawrence High School before earning a degree in Industrial Electronics from Milford Technical Institute.

Les's career evolved from farming and working as a journeyman electrician to a distinguished 30-year career with IBM. His IBM career began in Omaha, Nebraska, and took Les and his family to Rochester, Minnesota; Houston, Texas; Boca Raton, Florida; and eventually Atlanta, Georgia. Beginning in electronics and computer maintenance, he advanced into engineering support, software development, marketing, management, and technical education. He spent 10 years in management in Houston and Boca Raton and later taught courses throughout the country to IBM's business partners. He was respected for his knowledge, professionalism, and willingness to help others.

One of the proudest moments for his family came when they received Nebraska’s Pioneer Farm Award, recognizing 100 years of continuous ownership and operation of their family farm.

It even became part of television history. His childhood home and property were featured in one of the PBS’s earliest reality-style documentaries, The Farmer’s Wife, which followed a young couple renting the farm and raising their family there. The series received national recognition, and Dad always enjoyed telling that story.

At the center of Les's life was his beloved wife, Rosalee. Together, they built a life grounded in faith and a deep commitment to family. He found great joy in raising their two daughters, Lori and Lisa, and cheering them on through gymnastics, soccer, drill team, and other school activities. Some of his favorite family memories came from vacations together, especially skiing trips to Colorado and Utah.

In retirement, Les and Rosalee embraced their love of travel, visiting more than 39 countries together, with Rome, Italy, holding a special place in his heart. An avid tennis player for 50 years, Les also treasured the friendships and camaraderie of his Fairfield Plantation tennis group.

Les was active in the Knights of Columbus for 30 years, serving as Grand Knight at St. Thomas the Apostle in Smyrna, Georgia, and later as a Fourth Degree Knight at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Carrollton, Georgia. His service to his parish, the Knights, and his community reflected the faith that guided his life.

Few things brought Les greater happiness than his grandchildren—Patrick, Veronica, Thomas, Mary, and Matthew. For many summers, he loved spending time with the entire family together at the lake in Fairfield Plantation, where he took his grandchildren on boat rides and skiing.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalee Hubl; daughters and sons in law Lori (Mark) Powell, Lisa (Michael) Lee; grandchildren, Patrick Powell, Veronica Lee and her husband (Brooks) Norton, Thomas Powell, Mary Powell, Matthew Powell; sisters and brothers in law, Rosalie (James) Ralph, Kathleen (Herman) Hansen and Juliene (Richard) Eckert.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Les will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering integrity, deep faith, and unconditional love. Though he built a successful career and traveled the world, his true legacy is the family he cherished, the values he instilled, and the memories he created with those he loved."

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Almon Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 7 PM.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Joe Wagner officiating.

Inurnment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery.
