Obituary

Mr. James Lamar Robinson, age 74, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 15, 1949 in Columbus, Georgia, the son the late Harold A. Robinson and Zelah Shadinger Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a proud graduate of Carrollton High School, Class of 1967. He spent his professional years at AT&T, where he worked as a system technician before retiring.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Robinson had a passion for sports and outdoor activities. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed target shooting with friends and enjoyed the tranquility of fishing. His enthusiasm for sports extended to his support for the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. In addition to his hobbies, Mr. Robinson was a former member of the Carrollton Jaycees and was also a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He loved his family, spending time with them and watching his grandchildren in their activities.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jan Lankford Robinson; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin (Pam) Robinson, Andy (Amy) Robinson both of Carrollton; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tripp) Lott, Tanner Robinson, Drew Robinson, Sam Robinson; sisters-in-law, Ruby Robinson, Shirley Lankford; brother-in-law, Terry Lankford and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby (Patsy) Robinson, Archie (Ola) Robinson, Jerry (Geraldine) Robinson, Ronnie Robinson; brother-in-law, Mike Lankford; and special pet, Cooper.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 12PM until 2PM at Almon Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM from the chapel of Almon Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen Allen officiating.

Interment will be in Carrollton City Cemetery with Jeff Robinson, Patrick Robinson, Connor Robinson, Braden Robinson, Chris Robinson and Ryan Lankford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Robinson, Andy Flowers, Ryan Robinson, former Southern Bell/AT&T employees, golfing buddies, and Carrollton High School class of 1967.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Christmas Store, 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
