Obituary

Kelly Nelon Clark, age 64, of Roopville, Georgia went to be with her Lord and Savior July 26, 2024. She was on her way to do what she had devoted her entire life to, singing and witnessing about Jesus. Her husband Jason, daughter Amber, and son-in-law Nathan Kistler joined her in her heavenly ascent.

For Kelly, Southern Gospel Music was a way of life. She grew up in the world, and never even considered using her God given talent anywhere else. She grew up listening to her father, Gospel Music Hall of Famer Rex Nelon, singing with The LeFevres. At the age of 13 she began singing herself with The LeFevres which eventually became the grammy nominated, Dove Award Winning, Gospel Music Hall of Fame group The Nelons. She and her husband, Jason, took over the reins of the group when her father retired from traveling, and with the addition of her talented daughters, Amber and Autumn became the Nelons we know today.

Kelly won many accolades throughout her career, Christian Voice Awards Favorite Female Vocalist of The Year, Favorite Alto, Singing News Fan Awards, Favorite Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Queen of Gospel Music, Favorite Alto and numerous others over the years. This year she learned she would be inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame as an individual who contributed greatly to the gospel music industry. She was also a talented actress appearing in several television shows, and movies. She enjoyed all the awards, but her most favorite thing was her family, and she spent every minute making sure they knew how much she loved and cherished them. Kelly traveled throughout the United States and abroad singing about her Lord and Savior, and the thing she enjoyed most were the friendships and relationships she made and kept through the years.

Proceeded in death by her mother Shirley Nelon, father Rex Nelon, and Jerry Thompson. Survived by daughter Autumn (Jamie) Nelon Clark Streetman, of Nashville, TN, brother Todd (Rhonda) Nelon of Powder Springs, GA, step mother Judy Nelon of Franklin, TN, father and mother in law Danny (Linda) Clark of Roopville, GA, brother-in-law Danny Joe (Chery) of Littlestown, PA, nephew Jordan (Paige) Nelon of Dallas, GA, niece Ashley (Logan) Nelon Craft of Orlando, FL, niece Shelby (Hudson Brett) Nelon of Johns Creek, GA, nephew Landon Clark and nieces Lilianna, and Annalyse Clark of Littlestown, PA, great nephews Jack Nelon, Brooks Craft, and numerous cousins.
