Obituary

The family of Julie Ann Lindahl is heartbroken to share the news that she has passed. Julie was born on October 5, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lakeside High School in Georgia in 1979 and then earned her associate’s degree from St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida. She proudly worked for Haddow and Company in Atlanta, Georgia, for 20 years until she retired in 2010. Julie was a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Carrollton, Georgia, where she spent many years serving on the altar guild and cherished her time singing in the St. Margaret’s choir.

Julie leaves a legacy marked by devotion to the people and animals she loved. She spent her life making every animal she encountered feel loved beyond measure; she was surely greeted with several wagging tails when she reached Heaven. She was a premier party planner, with every detail carefully thought out and every guest welcomed. Her Christmas parties are remembered fondly by so many friends and family members.

Julie truly adored the Christmas season. After inheriting The Dickens Village, she took on the monumental task of continuing this beloved family tradition and created an experience more beautiful than anyone else in the family could have imagined. Everyone who visited her home looked forward to seeing it each year as she brought the village to life. In the spring and summer, she made her world more beautiful with her green thumb. Her garden was a favorite of friends, family, and local hummingbirds.

Julie loved traveling with her husband, whether they were riding a motorcycle, cruising around the world, or visiting friends. No one could plan a Disney trip or a road trip like Julie. She was always perfectly packed a month ahead of time with detailed plans in place.

Beyond her many passions, there is nothing Julie was prouder of than being a grandma. Her greatest joy was keeping her grandson when he was little and watching him grow into the young man he is today. Julie loved her family incredibly. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Maureen Woods, and her uncle, Lee Woods. She is survived by her beloved husband, Chris Lindahl; stepchildren Billy and Catherine Lindahl and their partners Katie and Hunter; grandchildren Gavin, Hailey, and Jase; brother Jerry Woods and his wife Jennifer; brother Jimmy Woods and his wife Denise; nephew James; niece Taylor Matthesen and her family, Tim, Hope, and Henry; niece Logan Watson and her husband Duke.

Whenever you see a pink flamingo, a hummingbird at a feeder, or a dog wagging its tail, we hope you remember Julie fondly; she would have delighted in these small joys along with you. Julie is greatly loved and missed.

All family and friends are invited to join Julie’s immediate family for a wake at Almon’s funeral home in Carrollton, Georgia, from 12:30-2:30PM on Saturday, November 7; followed by a service at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Julie’s name to an animal shelter or rescue of your choice, or to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church.
