Mrs. Joy Teresa Gilliom, age 78 of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Mrs. Gilliom was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 9, 1935, the daughter of the late Richard Sheehy and Blanche Tarleton Sheehy. She was a Registered Nurse and after marriage she was a wife and mother. Then after the children were of age she worked in Medical Missions in Central America. Survivors include her husband, Ned A. Gilliom; son Christopher Gilliom of San Diego, CA; daughters and son-in-law, Kelly Talbot of Douglasville, GA, Lisa and Julio Fernandez of New Orleans, LA; half brother, Michael Lorenzi of Prescott, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m. with Father Cong Nguyen officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, January 10, 2014 from 7 to 8 pm with the rosary at 7:30 pm with Deacon Gary Atkinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
